Hello everyone!

Please join the Golden Gate and Sacramento VCOA Chapters for the second “Mt. Diablo: Conquer the Devil Drive” on October 15th at 9:30am.

A note from Helen and Gary Lodge, Event Coordinators:
“This will be a fun drive to the top of Mt. Diablo (One of the two best vistas in the world according to the Discovery Channel). This drive will not be a high speed drive as it will include our vintage cars and the roads are not the kind you can safely navigate at high speeds due to road speed limits (some are posted at 15 mph) and bicyclists on the road.

We will be meeting in the parking lot right behind this sign at the Ygnacio Plaza shopping center in Walnut Creek:

1835 Ygnacio Valley Rd.

I plan to start the drive at 9:30AM just in case it turns out to be HOT…
There is a $10 day use fee for the park collected at the gate.
Mount Diablo is a State Park: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=517

The drive will take about an hour with a couple of stops for vista’s (one on the way up and one on the way down). There is not a lot of parking at the summit, so if there are not enough spaces we can park at the lower lot. While everyone is at the summit I'll try to secure a picnic spot for the group and relay the information.

Lunch will be around 12 noon and you will need to bring your own food and drinks (no alcohol is allowed in the park). Other recommended items to bring include plenty of water for you and your Volvo (just in case of overheating—I've seen a couple of people using a soda can to add water to their steaming vehicles), as well as a chair, binoculars, and a camera to more fully enjoy the vistas.”
