Hello everyone!
You are invited to join the us for the Fall Foothill Drive on October 29th at 9:30A.
A message from Wally and Marcia Russell, Event Coordinators:
Falll Foothill Drive: Still Looking for Gold
Begins in Folsom and Ends in Placerville
-Meet at 9:30 a.m.
-Raley’s shopping center, corner of Blue Ravine and E. Natoma, Folsom CA
-NE end of parking lot near 25095 Blue Ravine (Mexquite Restaurant)
-Food, gas, etc. available at this location
Depart for the journey at 10:00 a.m.
Stop One:
Coloma with a stop at Marshall Gold Discovery Park http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=484
Route Options:
-Route Less Traveled: Green Valley Road to Salmon Falls Road
-Or, follow Marcia to Coloma via “the road more traveled:” Green Valley Road to Lotus Road.
Information about Marshall Gold Discovery Park:
-$8 per vehicle charge at park no matter where we park ($7 for 62+ seniors) includes map, historical info., & museum entrance fee. Historical film available in museum.
-Outdoor exhibits, gold panning ($7), museum, gift shop, restrooms
-Light snacks will be furnished or you can bring your own.
Stop Two:
Gold Hill Vineyard (depends on time & desire of group) http://www.goldhillvineyard.com/index.html
They have both wine and beer in the tasting room.
Stop Three and/or Four:
Depending on time, our next stop will be Old Town Grill in Placerville http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g32898-d528419-Reviews-Old_Town_Grill-Placerville_California.html for lunch or a stop at the Gold Bug Park and Mine http://www.goldbugpark.org/ for a self guided tour.
Gold Bug Park is less than 5 minutes from Main Street in Placerville and might best be explored after lunch.
John at Old Town Grill closes at 2:30 p.m. and you don’t want to miss a chance to have one of his burgers or salads. Cash only, no charge cards accepted.
