Hello everyone!
You are invited to join the Sacramento and Golden Gate VCOA Chapters for the 2nd annual Autocross on May 14th at 7:30A.
Notes:

-PLEASE BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR VOLVO IN PROPER WORKING ORDER, THERE WILL BE MANDATORY TECH INSPECTIONS BEFORE DRIVING THE AUTO-X COURSE.
-Tech will follow basic SCCA guidelines such as secured battery, no hubcaps, nothing loose in the interior or trunk (cameras, tools, etc.) , car in general good working condition, etc.
-Track layout will be more technical than speed due to lot size (90,000 sq.ft.).
-We need numerous volunteers to make this work.
Cone retrieval experts especially needed.
-The event is based on giving all proceeds to charity.
Meeting location:
Different location than 2010:

Day-of-Event:

Prices DO NOT include lunch.
We are not allowed to sell food products at the event, so bring something to eat and drink!
After the drivers are all finished, we plan on selling laps for any type of vehicle to run the course ($5 per lap).
Pre-register on-line:
GGVCOA Event RegistrationA Note from Mark Baldwin about the (Sacramento) Davis Autocross
I will be the event marshall and run the drivers meeting. I have a deputy working the gate to check that participants have paid and signed waiver prior to entering the track area. I have three independent tech inspectors already volunteering (Peter, Jacob, and Nick from Volvo Independent).
Will need volunteers at sign in table to collect money, have waivers signed, and stamp hands, etc. Will need timers also.
I am splitting the drivers into two groups. The first group will be driving while the second group works the track (flaggers, and cone pick-up). This will switch when the first group finishes their runs.
If you have questions or are interested in volunteering, please e-mail Mark Baldwin.
We hope to see you there.

Official 1st Annual Davis Autox Rehab BBQ
http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?p=3748611
-posted by gsellstrYup, that's right...it's official.
Mark Baldwin has generously offered up his shop for a BBQ, car wash, etc. following the autox on May 14th.
He also has a lift, tools, etc. for light repairs (no tranny swaps obviously), he'll have a grille, DJ setup for some tunes, a big parking lot, and access to water for washing your car up prior to the show on sunday.
You can bring something to throw on the grille or some cash to put into the fund. I'll probably try for a trip to Costco after the autox to pick up stuff Mark doesn't have, kinda like I did last year at the park.
He has given the okay for some brew but please keep it moderate...we don't need any drunk's or DUI's while leaving his place.
His shop is over near Executive Airport, so half-way between Davis and Mather.
Google Map
The formal addy is 6388 Freeport Blvd.
Start time is whenever the autox finishes. End time is...well...whenever.

Well, all conditions of the, twenty one page, one day use permit have been met.....crazy for a one day charity event. I am meeting Ray Miller from SCCA out at the site tommorow at 1030am to discuss a track layout. Ray is a former national champ in his corvette, and a SCCA stewart. Anyone wanting to join us are welcome. Golden Gate Chapter dropped off the timing gear and a bunch of cones this morning to me. We still need a green start flag, and some black flags if anyone has any. I wil post a layout of the course when it gets finalized. I also think I got a Rancho City council member to sponser the county fees ($300). This is all coming together nicely and should be a great day. Don't forget to bring some shade, chairs, food, and lots of drinks. The area is way sunny and no shade.

I met Ray Miller from the SCCA today out at the site. We spent a couple of hours figuring out some course designs. This guy knows his stuff. He recommended we set up a course that incorporates two laps for each run. This will make this smaller course more fun and challenging. He seems to think we will be able to have four or five 2 lap runs with forty cars in attendance.
I need a green flag and a checkered flag if anyone has one. Also, if anyone has access to a chalk machine, the kind used for sporting events would work. I want to outline the course as much as possible.

Current plan is to use differing handstamps for drivers and passengers. Spectators are free. Will use a master list for those that already paid. If you got a receipt..print it and bring it just in case. We should have no problems. I have asked the Golden Gate guys to email all those that paid and thought lunch was included. A full refund will be given if you want to withdraw. The "21 Page" special use permit does not allow us to provide food for sale or give it away. We would have had to get a health permit and a franchise tax id number. Goverment gone wild with power! We can bring our own food, etc. I keep reminding everyone....bring SHADE! Its way sunny. Was 91 degrees yesterday at the site.
We will break for a short lunch and rotate volunteers throughout the event.
The course will be wicked. Per SCCA dude...this will challenge us. One of his concerns was to keep numerous transitions throughout the course to keep the oil from accumulating on one side of the pan..thus toasting engines. There are no metal covers, pavement transitions, or surface issues to deal with. If you want your opinion heard...show up on setup night (fri 5-13) and help us setup.

Re: May 14, 2011: (Sacramento) Davis Auto-X
Hi Everyone,
Another update:
A couple people have mentioned bringing easy-up-type shade tents.
If anyone else has one, please bring it-- we could set them all up together and make a nice big shaded area for everyone to share.
---
For those of you who have not been to the Sacramento area in a while, remember that it can heat up quickly here and stay hot for a while (especially on blacktop).
So, in addition to bringing your own lunches, please also bring lots and lots of water (and maybe other electrolyte-type drinks too).
As Mark has mentioned, the site is very exposed, so please bring as many shade options as you can to protect yourselves (and to share) from the sun (tent, umbrella, hat, long sleeve shirt, etc.) and sunscreen.
(Right now the forecast for Saturday, May 14th is 76 degrees, which would be great, but come prepared for heat, just in case...)
Take care,
volvie!

A few updates to some FAQs:
-How much is it to watch?
Spectators are free.
But, we would love to have you help / volunteer in some way!
Will need people to manage parking, timers, flaggers, set-up, clean-up, etc.
-How will you tell the difference between drivers and passengers?
Different hand stamps. Will use a master list for those that already paid. If you got a receipt..print it and bring it just in case. We should have no problems.
-Why is lunch not included?
The “21 Page” special use permit does not allow us to provide food for sale or give it away. We would have had to get a health permit and a franchise tax id number. Goverment gone wild with power! We can bring our own food, etc.
A full refund will be given if you want to withdraw.
-Where can we go to eat?
Mather Air Force Base is right next to Hwy 50, so there are restaurants within 5-10 minutes of the Auto-X course [including Subway (near the VA hospital), Quiznos (near Bradshaw), etc.)
See this map for more information (searched for “restaurants loc: Auto-X Location @38.563754,-121.308632″):

Re: May 14, 2011: (Sacramento) Davis Auto-X
Hi Everyone,
A little progress report as I upload the Auto-X videos:
I've gone through all the videos on the memory cards and made a spreadsheet of what I've already uploaded and what will be uploaded so you can:
A. Search for and find your video(s) and/or the video(s) you want to watch
B. Know approximately when your video(s) and/or the video(s) you want to watch will be uploaded (on slow days, I average about six uploads).
If you have any suggestions about how I should tag the videos so they are easier to search for, please let me know...
Otherwise, here is the link to the spreadsheet:
http://www.sacvolvoclub.org/Home/events/2011-past-events#SacAX11
And, here is a link to the Sac Volvo Club YouTube page:

Take care,

Then, I need to start working on the pictures...
